The Denver Area Music Teachers Association (DAMTA) is a local chapter of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association, affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association.

Membership Meeting and Fall Course Presentation: The transformation of the Classical Aesthetic as Exemplified by the Instrumental Sonata
Join us for our first membership meeting of the 2016-2017 year followed by the first presentation of our fall course.
Willem van Schalkwyk will be lecturing on The transformation of the Classical Aesthetic as Exemplified by the Instrumental Sonata
Development of the compositional styles of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, highlighting the emergence of the duo instrumental sonata and the piano's increasingly prominent role therein. Several representative works will be examined, including composers less frequently encountered like Hummel, Weber, Moscheles, Kuhlau, Dussek and Kramer.
